Underground Railroad quilt block making in EIGHT (8) class sessions.  Follows "UNDERGROUND RAILROAD SAMPLER" by Eleanor Burns with description as follows:   

"Take a trip on the Underground Railroad! Join Eleanor Burns and Sue Bouchard as they guide you through the story of the Underground Railroad. Learn how fifteen quilt blocks may have played a significant role in communication between the slaves and how it helped them on their way to freedom.The book has 168 full color pages with step by step instructions for each of the 15 blocks. There are also directions to make a miniature Underground Railroad quilt. The book contains yardage and cutting charts in addition to fabric identification pages that will assist the quilter in cutting and marking her fabric for this beautiful sampler. Underground Railroad Sampler also includes a color page depicting the Story of the Underground Railroad that can be photocopied onto Photo Transfer Fabric and included in the quilt. "

Requirements:
Instructions and supplies needed by students: please have all material for 15 blocks ironed and ready to cut. You do NOT need to bring material for sashing, cornerstones, border, backing or binding. For our FIRST class please bring: ~Underground Railroad Sampler book ~Cutting mat, rotary cutter ~Rulers - 6" x 12"; 6" x 24", 6" or 8" inch square ~Portable iron and ironing mat (optional) ~Small scissors ~Pen and pencil Container to hold 12 1/2 inch squares flat If you wish to mark each piece of material that is cut, then make a copy of pages 160-163 for 12" blocks or pages 164-167 for 6" blocks (OPTIONAL). For all other classes please bring all items above plus: ~Sewing machine and usual sewing supplies ~Neutral thread and invisible or applique thread ~Marking pen of your choice, such as Frixion Pen ~Point turner

Cinda Pottmeyer is an accomplished sewer and extremely patient with students of all ages. Cinda has been sewing her entire life and has produced countless sewing projects at all skill levels. She has recently co-authored the book "Multiple Madness" (a companion book to the class that is unique to our store- "Multiple Madness")
